In these unprecedented times, the PTO is assessing the best way to support El Granada students, teachers, and families during remote learning. Please stay tuned and send us your suggestions.
The PTO funds and organizes numerous enrichment activities for the students and families of El Granada Elementary School because we are passionate about educating the whole child and we know that art, music, science, physical education and a shared sense of community are paramount in keeping kids inspired and engaged.
We provide four additional hours of librarian time every week to ensure all students have access to this incredible resource. We also provide an annual stipend to the librarian for the purchase of new library books.
PE Teacher for TK-3rd
We provide the salary for a PE Teacher for the TK through 3rd Grade students so that all El Granada Elementary students receive 30 minutes of physical education every week. We also provide annual stipends for the purchase of new playground and physical education equipment to keep kids engaged and active.
Music Program (TK-5)
We provide an accredited music teacher and program that gives all El Granada Elementary students 30 minutes of music education every week. Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of music theory, composition and history through a variety of instruments including percussion, recorders (3rd grade), ukulele (upper grades), and their voice.
ART & SCIENCE
Art in Action
Open House Art Show
We provide Art education (Art in Action) through a volunteer-led hand-on curriculum. Instructions, supplies and volunteer training are provided. At the end of the year students showcase their work at an art show held during Open House.
Arts & Sciences Day (a nationally and locally recognized event that the kids call "the best day of the year") has been expanded to Arts & Science Week! This is a week long showcase of hands-on exploration of the arts & sciences with assemblies, workshops, demonstrations, and education all made possible by collaborations with community members.
Stipends for Teachers
Staff Appreciation Events
The teachers and staff at El Granada Elementary are amazing. We support them by providing annual stipends to cover the cost of classroom supplies and by hosting a staff appreciation event to recognize and celebrate all that they do educate, engage, and inspire our students all year long.
Open House & Ice Cream Social
School community is important to us. We host a variety of events throughout the year to bring the El Granada Elementary school community together. Events include Tea & Talks with the principal, welcome and end of year socials, family fun and education nights (literacy, math, movies), a Valentines family dance, a student talent show and more. We hope to see you at some of these fun events!
