EG FAMILY MATH NIGHT

The PTO are partnering with San Jose-based organization Julia Robinson Mathematics Festival to bring a family math night to El Granada! JRMF host math festivals for families of all ages all over the Bay Area to build confidence, joy, and a sense of belonging around math.
At a Math Festival, students and families explore a variety of hands-on, play-based math puzzles and games. Suitable for all ages, students can move from activity to activity as they please. Check the JMRF website for lots more information and watch the video below for an idea of what to expect! Mark your calendars for Tuesday February 10th at 6pm!
Help out at the math festival!
We need volunteers to help facilitate the math activities - no prior knowledge is required and training is provided by JMRF in the hour before the event. You will stay on the same activity/table for the whole event. If you'd like to partner with another parent at a table that works also!
A Math Festival is a go-at-your-own-pace event. Instead of going in a certain order or schedule, kids and adults can choose to visit whichever activities they want to go to and stay as long as they want. A volunteer has 3 main responsibilities:
-
Providing clear instructions when students and families walk up to the table
-
Cleaning up the stations when they leave
-
As much as possible, not giving away any answers!
Check out the games ahead of time on the JRMF website: Apple Picking, Bridges, Changing Colors, Dice Bingo, Domino Dissection, Jumping Julia, Pentaminoes, Poly Puzzles, Shape Mazes, and Star Battle.
Help us gauge numbers by RSVPing below (not necessary for attendance).
